Hero # 26
(US Comics Magazine) August 1995IN THE WORKS
In case you don't remember the word "Abiogenesis" from your high school biology class, it's the spontaneous formation of life from unliving matter - which is as good a description of the creative process as any. At present, it's a one-man outfit run by newcomer Gary Spencer Millidge out of Southend-on-Sea in Essex, England. Abiogenesis' first series is Strangehaven, and if you're a fan of Twin Peaks, Picket Fences or the old Prisoner series, this is the book for you. Alex Hunter finds himself trapped in the mysterious village of Strangehaven, but with the idyllic surroundings, pleasant company and great beer at the Minotaur tavern, why should he ever want to leave? Why indeed .
If you didn't catch the first issue when it hit the stands in July, # 2 ships in September and features Megaron the ex-Amazon shaman, the secret brotherhood of evil, Adam the Alien, Suzie Tang and, of course, Alex. Gary Spencer Millidge writes, draws and paints some mighty cool covers as well. If you can't wait that long, Millidge has done an eight-page Strangehaven story for the August issue of Negative Burn (#26) that has Strangehaven's local constable, Sergeant Clarke, trying to track down a missing amulet.
