Strangehaven's Magical Realism

Gary Millidge's Strangehaven is a wonderful blend of fantasy and reality, a magical soap opera.
Strangehaven is the story of a lost traveller who finds himself stranded in a mysterious English town. He falls in love with a young woman he encounters, and decides to stay; a good decision as the town is seemingly inescapable.
There is a large cast of characters, well fleshed out. A secret society may be running the town.
In his artwork, Millidge uses models extensively, and his bold, but fastidious inking style has a documentary air that makes for compelling visuals.
If Millidge were only a terrific artist, that might be enough. But his writing is even better than his drawing. His ear for realistic dialogue is second to none.
Strangehaven has echoes of Twin Peaks and The Prisoner. If you like strange tales of romance and adventure, beautifully drawn and fully-realized, this one's for you.
