Strangehaven 12
By Millidge; Abiogenesis

The twelfth issue - and as the clock strikes midnight violence finally disrupts the polite façade of the village. Or does it? Since the very beginning Gary Spencer Millidge has mixed the mundane and the inexplicable so adroitly that it's no longer possible to take anything at face value in his fine mystery story. (MK)

Things get violent in Strangehaven as the traitor in the Knights' midst is discovered, and hanged. Meanwhile a wife, whose husband has strayed one too many times, retires to the bathtub with a knife. (JL)

The pastoral feel of this title takes a heavy shot in the arm at last as blood is spilled twice in the same night in the sleepy village of Strangehaven. Millidge's layouts continues to improve with each issue, and his writing grows ever more confident. If this title suffers in any way, it's simply down to its infrequent publication, making it difficult to enjoy the series as an ongoing saga. (RN)
