After four days precautionary self isolation, I underwent my long awaited electrical cardioversion procedure at Southend University Hospital this afternoon. This was deemed necessary to treat my atrial fibrillation. The electrical cardioversion is, essentially, an electric shock to the heart to get it back in to ‘sinus’ rhythm, and thankfully, the procedure was a complete success!
The accompanying photograph is a selfie of me in the recovery room, not knowing where the fuck I am and still tripping balls from three hits of sedative Midazolam. I can honestly say I didn’t feel a thing.
I can’t thank the nurses and doctors enough and further proof (not that it’s needed) that what an amazing *free* National Health Service we have in the UK.
Update:
(Very) shortly after coming round from the Midazolam, I texted my lovely Geen Geenie, sitting at home waiting for news, and our exchange of messages is presented below for your amusement.
