This stunning volume consists of 160 full-colour 10″ x 11″ pages, featuring a diverse array of images selected from a wide range of the very best examples of comic book design throughout the history of the medium.
The book contains approximately 40,000 words covering every aspect of design in comics, from character design, panel and page design, colouring and lettering, cover and publication design and with a special emphasis on comic storytelling.
Behind-the-scenes materials are also included by top notch creators including Alan Davis, Sean Phillips, Gerhard, Shannon Wheeler, Brian Bolland, Eric Shanower, D’Israeli and many more.
The book also contains insightful designer spotlights on innovative creators Chris Ware, Chip Kidd, Seth and others. This is a unique perspective on the creative techniques of the comic book art form in a beautifully produced package.
Comic Book Design is published by Ilex Press in the UK and by Watson-Guptill in the US and is now available from the finest bookstores, comic shops and online book merchants.
This book follows Millidge’s two how-to books published by New Holland Publishing, Draw Fantasy Figures (2006) and Draw Dragons and Other Fantasy Beasts (2007).
