I got a phone call out of the blue from Win Wiacek from the Comic Creator’s Guild asking me to write a article for the society’s magazine Comics Forum about my experiences in self-publishing. This did rather tickle my sense of irony when I learned the title of the column was to be “Getting it Right”, when I hadn’t realised that I was actually doing anything right.
Still, I was flattered to be asked (I suppose somebody must think I’m doing it right) and I duly obliged, even if my article was sent in a little after deadline. It’s a densely packed, three-page article and I guess some interest if you are thinking of self-publishing yourself.
The rest of the 48-page A4-size magazine is an esoteric mix of articles and reviews, including the world’s worst comics, Jimmy Olsen, Bizzaro Superman, Barbie, a profile of Johnny Craig, a report on the Knockabout obscenity case and more. There’s lots of illustrations and a sense of humour, all professionally put together, another publication which I can heartily recommend.
