Before Strangehaven, there was Insomnia.
Gary has produced a new mini-comic consisting of archive material, his first such project since the days of Amon*Spek in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Millidge had been working on an idea for an ongoing comic book series for a couple of years prior to Strangehaven. Certain similarities may be apparent to the Strangehaven reader, including the visual appearance of the main character, the nine-panel grid and various common themes. For a number of reasons, Insomnia was abandoned and Strangehaven was created.
Buried for over twelve years, Gary has decided to dust off the fifteen pages of completed and partly-completed Insomnia artwork, along with thumbnails for the entire first issue, plot notes, concept sketches and reference materials along with a new commentary and has packaged them into a neat little mini-comic.
Launched at the London Comic Festival on October 23, only 100 copies of a signed and numbered edition have been produced. The 32-page mini-comic measures 8.25″ x 6″ and is laser printed in black and white with several full colour pages. This item will be available while stocks last in person from Gary’s convention and festival appearances or by mail order from Abiogenesis Press in the UK.
