Soaring Penguin Press are currently crowdfunding the latest volume of their anthology Meanwhile… which includes the *final* episode of Strangehaven: Destiny.
Yes, you read that right, after 166 full-colour pages, Strangehaven book IV finally comes to a dramatic climax and my eight-year association with Soaring Penguin will be coming to an end.
The campaign runs until March 18th 2023 and you can back it and reserve your copy here.
It’s available in print or digital editions, with a number of interesting bundles, including an exclusive poster.
You’ll see that the 152 page comics anthology also contains strips by such diverse talents as Roger Langridge, Sarah Gordon, Joe Latham, Ginny Skinner, Daniel da Silva Lopes, Evgenij Iosjpe, Caleb Ady, Joni Hägg, Jacob Fleming, and Efi Theodoropoulou.
Strangehaven’s farewell to the pages of Meanwhile… runs to a full twenty pages, and as I’ve mentioned elsewhere, is so full of spoilers I can’t share too much in the way of artwork or plot, but here’s a taste:
Can it really be the end for Alex, and the end for Strangehaven?
Collect Call
In anticipation of the questions about when Strangehaven: Destiny will be collected, I’m afraid I can’t offer any news at the moment.
Because Strangehaven volumes I to III are all currently out of print, it doesn’t make much sense to publish volume IV as a standalone. I’ve been working on a solution to get the existing volumes back into print since the middle of last year, and book IV now being complete only adds to the number and complexity of potential options for the series as a whole.
It’s been suggested that I should release the books as print-on-demand or even as digital-only editions, but I am, at present, still determined that the books should be available through book shops and comic shops, which means opting for a more traditional publishing approach.
I’m making progress, but these things can’t be rushed and there won’t be any further announcements until I have some solid news to relay. Thanks for your patience.
