Have been gripped by a fly-on-the-wall TV documentary about a high-profile homicide prosecution shown on BBC Four over last weekend, The Staircase. At first, I thought it was some kind of reconstruction rather than actual footage. Amazing access granted to the documentary makers and a fascinating insight in the American legal system. Highly recommended.
Note even tangentially related, but interesting to hear that Terry Gilliam is again trying to revive the cursed The Man Who Killed Don Quixote movie. Anyone who has experienced the exquisite frustration of the documentary Lost In La Mancha (the DVD is highly recommended to all Gilliam fans) will be both astonished and overjoyed at the news.
Gilliam has two (2) new movies scheduled for release in 2005, The Brothers Grimm in late August, and Tideland later in the year. It’s the production company that produced the latter, along with its producer Jeremy Thomas who are attempting to revive Quixote. All the poop at the Terry Gilliam Dreams website here.
