At last, the long-awaited Strangehaven issue #13 is complete and scheduled for publication in early June 2001 or possibly as early as the last week in May.
It’s the first new issue of Strangehaven in over a year, due to a number of frustrations I’ve suffered recently. Continuing the story from Strangehaven #13 and the Strangehaven: Brotherhood trade paperback, I’ve decided to abandon the rigid nine-panel grid of previous issues in favour of a more flexible three tier layout. I’m also illustrating all issues from here on in a meticulous ink and wash technique. The cover has also undergone a significant redesign.
Additional features will include an interview by me with myself, attempting to explain the reasons for the long, enforced hiatus between issues and an article on the “real” Strangehaven’s resident photographer and guest house owner, Roger Hodge.
Official press release: Strangehaven #13 ships from Abiogenesis Press in June 2001
Gary Spencer Millidge’s award-winning and critically acclaimed comic book Strangehaven returns with the first brand-new issue in over a year this summer.
Following last issue’s night of extraordinary events, the village’s only lawman Sgt. Clarke investigates one suspected ritual murder, one apparent suicide and one missing person. But the Sergeant’s enquiries are hampered by the revelations of his closest allies.
Strained marital relations between the Doctor and his spouse begin to deteriorate as tensions grow in the isolated community deep in the English countryside.
Strangehaven #13 features:
· Fully painted watercolour art throughout 24 pages
· All new four page story-so-far recap in strip format
· Full colour painted cover
· Spoof “Millidge interviews Millidge” feature explaining the reasons behind Strangehaven’s enforced hiatus.
· “The Real Strangehaven” article on the village on which Strangehaven is based
· Plus the usual readers’ letters and other odds and ends
Strangehaven #13 will run at least 32 pages plus covers and will be printed on white offset.
